Bible Verses about Health as Your Identity – Become Your Own Dream Woman with God Series
When we think of identity in Christ, what comes to mind first? Child of God, saved by his Grace and blood. Chosen, beautifully, wonderfully and fearfully made in the image of Christ.
Yes, all wonderful things! Amazing things! But there’s one more thing I want you to consider: your health is part of your identity. It’s not your only identitity. But it is a super important aspect of it. Here are some Bible verses showing us how God MEANT for us to embrace our health as part of our identity, and to learn to steward it well.
Your Health is an Offering and Stewardship
“So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life – your sleeping, eating, going to work, and walking around lifee – and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the insdie out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.”
~Romans 12: 1-2 (The Message Version)
Your Body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit
“You realize, don’t you, that you are the temple of God, and God himself is present in you? No one will get by with vandalizing God’s temple, you can be sure of that. God’s temple is sacred-and you, remember, are the temple.”
~1 Corinthians 3: 16-17 (The Message Version)
What is a temple? Physically, it’s a building that is the home for many people. When you chose Jesus Christ to be your savior, and washed by his blood, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit. This means the Holy Spirit of God dwells in your temple. He dwells inside of you. Your body, mind, and spirit is his home. What kind of home are you providing for him?

Treating Yourself Well Is Agreeing with God’s Design
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” ~Psalm 139: 13-14
Body and Soul Work Together
“Dear friend, listen well to my words; tune your ears to my voice. Keep my message in plan view at all times. Concentrate! Learn it by heart! Those who discover these words live, really live; body and soul, they’re bursting with health. Keep vigilant watch over your heart; that’s where life starts. Don’t talk out of both sides of your mouth, avoid careless banter, white lies, and gossip. Keep your eyes straight ahead; ignore all sideshow distractions. Watch your step, and the road will stretch out smooth before you. Look neither right nor left; leave evil in the dust.”
~Proverbs 4: 20-27 (MSG)
God gives us our identity- which includes our body and soul. Life starts in our hearts. a healthy heart (physically and spiritually and metaphorically) impacts all of us.

God Shows Us What Our Identity Is and He Does the Work in Us
“Now God has us where he wants us, with all the time in this world and the next to shower grace and kindness upon us in Christ Jesus. Saving is all his idea, and all his work. All we do is trust him enough to let him do it. It’s God’s gift from start to finish! We don’t play the major role. If we did, we’d probably go around bragging that we’d done the whole thing! No, we neither make nor save ourselves. God does both the making and saving. He creates each of us by Christ Jesus to join him in the work he does, the good work he has gotten ready for us to do, work we had better be doing.”~Ephesians 2: 7-10 (MSG)
Trust God to give us our identity and reveal and work in and through us. Throgh all we do.
Trust God to Tell You Your Identity (Not people, culture, or social media)
“Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure everything out on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume you know it all. Run to God! Run from evil! Your body will glow with health, your very bones will vibrate with life! Honor God with everything you own, give him the first and the best. Your barns will burst, your wine vats will brim over. But don’t, dear friend, resent God’s discipline; don’t sulk under his loving correction. It’s the child he loves that God corrects; a father’s delight is behind all this.” ~Proverbs 3: 5-12 (MSG)
Love in Discipline. Discipline shapes health
The Spirit is life and life includes health and wholeness
“This is how we know we’re living steadily and deeply in him and he is us: He’s given us life from his life, from his very own Spirit. Also, we’ve seen for ourselves and continue to state openly that hte Father sent his Son as Savior of the world. Everyone who confesses that Jesus is God’s Son particiaptes continuously in an intimate relationship with God. We know it so well, we’ve embraced it heart and soul, this love that comes from God.”
~1 John 4:13-16
Health is included and cultivated out of living in love (it’s not just about being physically healthy)
“God is love. When we take up permanent residence in a life of love, we live in God and God lives in us. This way love has the run of the house, becomes at home and mature in us, so that we’re free of worry on Judgment Day – our standing in the world is identical with Christ’s. There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life-fear of death, fear of judgment – is one not yet fully formed in love.”
~1 John 4: 17-18
Love cultivates wellbeing in all areas of our lives.

Hope this helped you see a little of bit of how God wants us to embrace our identity, and how health is part of the identity he has given us to live fully free and abundantly in. Our lives are not just about being healthy. But being healthy is part of the inheritance God gives us when we choose Him, to live the life he has called us to live. To live and enjoy life being healthy is a gigantic part of that. God wants us healthy and He wants us to enjoy living life in purpose.
