Life gets really hard sometimes. And it’s really hard and chalenging to believe God exists during the really hard things. I’m sitting at my desk feeling stuck right now, so know you’re not alone. I don’thave an answer for why life is so difficult sometimes, but I pray these verses bring you some solace. If you’re needing a boost (like me right now) check out these quick Bible verses for hope.
He’s been faithful before, he’ll be faithful again.
“And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” romans 5
“You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.”~Romans 5 “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” ~Romans 15:13
“Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.” ~Psalms 62
I know it’s obvious, but hope really does come from God. It is hard to believe sometimes, and it might feel realyl delayed, but hope will eventually make its way to you.
“Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless. What do people gain from all their labors at which they toil under the sun? Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever.” ~Ecclesiastes 1
“I applied my mind to study and to explore by wisdom all that is done under the heavens. What a heavy burden God has laid on mankind! I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind. What is crooked cannot be straighted; what is lacking cannot be counted.” ~Ecclesiastes 1: 13-15
“The word of the Lord came to Jonah son of Amittai: “Go to the great city of Ninevah and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me.” But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the Lord.” ~Jonah 1
Even Jonah ran away from God – we’re all human and God understands. When we are going through challenging circumstances we may want to run away. And, even if we do, we are not powerful enough to go against God’s plan for our lives. Take comfort in that even if you go the opposite way, don’t stress about it! God will naturally redirect you like a loving parent.
“The land by the sea will become pastures having wells for shepherds and pens for flocks. That land will belong to the remnant of people of Judah; there they will find pasture. In the evening they will lie down in the houses of Ashkelon. The Lord their God will care for them; he will restore their fortunes.” ~Zephaniah 2: 6-7
“How beautiful you are, my darling! Oh, how beautiful! Your eyes are doves.” ~Song of Songs 1
“When Jesus heard this, he was amazed at him, and turning to the crowd following him, he said, “I tell you, I have not found such great faith even in Israel.” ~Luke 7:9
“Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting ‘Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory!” ~Revelation 19:6-7
“I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped inblood, and his name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.” He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: King of Kings and Lord of Lords.” ~Revelation 19: 11-16
Yes God is all loving and all kind and full of grace and mercy, but he is also A KING! The strongest warrior king who always wins the battle! When we need hope, we need a strong God, not a passive, weak one. God is all powerful! Any warriors from movies or TV shows come to mind? Well, Jesus is like that but 10 times stronger!
“But about the Son He says, ‘Your throne O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.” ~Hebrews 1:8-9
God’s kingdom reigns forever. Your trials will make you stronger. Don’t give up. Your muscles will burn, your heart will ache, your body will be tired from all the work, but don’t give up. You will be stronger and God will fight for you and win the battle for you. Techically, he has already won! 🙂
Be blessed and full of hope today!
You’re never alone!
