*Quick Disclaimer: I’m not a health professional or a professional Christian. This is purely for a guide and inspiration. Everyone’s relationship with God is different and God of course will reveal different things to you differently. Use your own wisdom and discernment. The intention of this and all devotional series is to help springboard you into your own time with God in the secret place. Nothing should be an idol above God’s voice in your life.*

Ephesians 1 – February Bible Study
🗝️Key Point
The key point of Ephesians 1 is that we have an inheritance of every spiritual blessing – which includes health. We are to believe and trust that God wants to give us good health – that it’s already part of the blessings bestowed upon us. We were made to be healthy, even on a broken earth.
📕Historical Context
Context is key. For our purposes, it’s really not wise to jump into reading the Bible without some background knowledge of context. It just provides a bigger picture of the whole story, and helps us see and relate better to what we’re reading. I’m no expert, just an inspirational guide, so please feel free to dig deep into your own research and find the truth for yourself. 🤓
Paul (the dude who Jesus blinded then unblinded-fax no printer 😉) wrote a letter to the believers in Ephesus around AD 60, while he was in prison/under house arrest, in Rome. Ephesus was a major port city in Asia Minor (Turkey), and a super important piece along the Silk Road. Many traders and caravans passed through and traded in the market square and worshipped the Roman and Greek gods (ahem Hercules – “I can go the distance…” ). Caesar Augustus and Tiberius helped create many of the ruins seen today – check out the photo below.

💡What Ephesians 1 Reveals about Our Health
God guarantees our inheritance (health). Whether He gives our inheritance here on earth or in heaven, good health will be guaranteed to those who believe in Jesus, those who have the promised sealed Holy Spirit. “When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession – to the praise of his glory.”
God WANTS us to have good health, and healthy lives. Even though we may have to walk through some suffering and trials (as part of His plan for our ultimate shaping and sancitification), he wants us thriving and flourishing too. We have the power if we ask God. We have been called to do good works. God wants us able to do them well in all ways. “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.”
🌱Applying it to Our Life
Put on non-judgmental glasses, and take a look at your life, your self, who you are. Identify areas where you doubt God or leave God out. Where don’t I trust God to lead and come through in my life? Once we identify those areas where we’re still trying to gain some sense of control, we have to give those over to God. Let the Holy Spirit reveal to you where you’re not letting His good love and plan in.
Sometimes, I’ve found, I’m stressed about an area of my life, and I’m still trying to figure it out and do it all myself, instead of letting God in to labor with me (we ARE co-heirs and co-laborers with him after all haha). Once we release our distrust in God, or at least go to Him and ask Him to help us give Him our trust in this specific area, we make space for truth, light and God’s compassion to come in. Little by little, there will be healing and health.

💜Prayer
Prayer
Place your hand on your heart and pray out loud: God, thank you for your strong presence in my life and for choosing me. Thank you for always showing up for me, even when I doubt you. Thank you for showing me your love and compassion and taking away what is in between you and me.
💜
Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, I am believing you for health and healing. Lead me to and through the process of healing and the health you envision for my life. Transform me from the inside out to be the best vessel and temple possible for you.
