Why bring Jesus Into Your Weight Loss Journey?
There are so many wonderful resources today about Jesus and spending time in His word, getting closer to Him and cultivating your relationship with God. Likewise, there are so many wonderful resources on eating healthy and exercising, and taking care of our physical health.
But How Often do we see both of these combined?
I believe and have found that the powerful kicker to get and stay healthy is to invite Jesus into our health journey. I believe as a daughter of God, health is not an exception, rather it is the rule. Health is my identity.
“Lord, I appeal to you. My God I trust in you.”
Psalm 25: 1
Read on to see the powerful reasons to invite Jesus into your health journey today!
1. God knows what you need
God knows how your body, mind, spirit and soul functions, so going to the manufacturer (God) can result in the best most expert guidance on how to exercise, what to eat, what habits to change.
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
~Psalms 139:14
2. God made you
God is the potter, we are the clay.
“Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.”
~Isaiah 64:8
He knows what went into making us, and He knows what and how to transform us. Why wouldn’t we go to God?
3. Our work is futile without God
We may be able to “pull ourselves up by the bootstraps,” but that is not the kind of life God wants for us. He wants us healthy, joyfully free, in purpose. He doesn’t want us idolizing anything else above Him, even our health and how we look. He wants us free to live and enjoy life. Doing anything without God will not produce the true Fruit we are looking for or really need.
“For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.”
~Romans 1:21
I would encourage you to reflect on Ecclesiastes, and really focus on why you want to become healthy. Ask God to reveal yourself to you and to fill you up how you need to be.
“Everything is meaningless. What do people gain from all their labors at which they toil under the sun? Generations come, generations go, but the earth remains forever. The sun rises and the sun sets, and hurries back to where it rises. The wind blows to the south and turns to the north; round and round it goes, ever returning on its course. All streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full. To the place the streams come from, there they return again. All things are wearisome, more than one can say. The eye has enough of seeing, nor the ear its full of hearing. What has been will be again, what has been done will be again; there is nothing new under the sun.” ~Ecclesiastes 1: 3-9.
I know it’s difficult and may be new to you. But with practice, God can make it happen for you. You need only ask. You can ask Him anytime, but it’s best to spend time with Him consistently, to build a relationship with Him.

Hope this helped you in some way today!
Be blessed!
